Your questions, answered.
What difference does my bid make?
Your bid supports CS Hospiz Wien and helps finance the refurbishment in Kalksburg, with its 16 hospice rooms and communal spaces. People with serious illnesses receive professional nursing and support at the end of life, with dignity, self-determination and individual needs at the heart of their care. Their families also receive support and space to say goodbye.
Living with dignity, care and self-determination is a guiding principle of CS. The new spaces offer room for privacy and time together with loved ones, honouring the preciousness of life with care, space and time, even as life draws to a close.
What is NORDLICHT?
NORDLICHT is a specialist CS service for people with ME/CFS and their families. This severe chronic illness can leave people permanently confined to bed and unable to manage even the smallest everyday activities. Its causes are not yet sufficiently understood, and there is currently no cure.
NORDLICHT offers advice and is developing specialist nursing, care at home and residential services. Three identified works in this auction specifically support this programme.
How can I bid?
All bids are placed on Dorotheum, not on this website. Online bidding runs from 1 December 2026 at 10 am until 15 December at 5 pm, Vienna time.
- Create a free myDOROTHEUM account and confirm your email address using the link sent to you. If you already have an account, simply sign in.
- Activate online bidding if you have not already done so by uploading a copy of official photo identification. Activation usually takes up to 24 hours (one working day). You will receive a confirmation email once your account has been activated. Please apply well before you wish to bid.
- Once bidding opens, follow “BID HERE” to the auction, choose your work and submit your bid on its Dorotheum lot page. Check the lot details and auction conditions before confirming.
Are there any additional auction fees or VAT?
No buyer’s premium or VAT is charged on the hammer price. Shipping and insurance costs are payable by the buyer.
Is my purchase tax-deductible?
The CS Caritas Socialis Privatstiftung is an organisation eligible to receive tax-deductible donations in Austria. When purchasing a work at this auction, you may be able to claim 50% of the purchase price as a charitable donation for Austrian tax purposes.
For private individuals, CS reports the donation to the Austrian tax authorities. To do this, it needs your first name and surname exactly as recorded in the population register, together with your date of birth.
For questions about your personal tax circumstances, please contact your tax adviser or tax office.
How do payment and collection work?
Payment is made directly to CS Hospiz Wien. Collection in Vienna is available by arrangement through Michael Schmidt-Ott or CS Hospiz Wien. All shipping and insurance costs are payable by the buyer.
